Lara & Jamie - Broxmouth Courtyard

This was my first time at Broxmouth Courtyard, near Dunbar in East Lothian, Scotland. The location was a dream setting for videography due to the variety of locations.

In the morning, I arrived at ‘The Dressing Room’, where the bride and bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done. The party started early as they popped open a bottle of champagne. I then moved just across the courtyard to ‘The Best Man’s Room’ for the groom’s wedding party. There was a relaxed atmosphere as they were sinking balls in a game of pool.

The ceremony room was stunning and an ideal setting for video as the large windows allowed natural light to fill the room. They invited a friend to play acoustic guitar and sing as the guests arrived. Led by a lovely celebrant, the ceremony included Scottish traditions, such as ‘handfasting’, binding the couple's hands together with a length of tartan or ribbon to symbolize their union and commitment to each other and a ‘Quaich’, where the couple shares a drink of whiskey from the Quaich as a symbol of sharing their lives together.

After confetti and group photos, we all hopped into the photographer’s car and drove to the beach. It was a bumpy but short ride. At one point, we were driving on the wrong side of the road without realising. Being in such a rural area, we were the only people at the beach! This allowed us to get incredible shots of Lara and Jamie strolling on the beach and, of course, spraying champagne.

Then it was their wedding breakfast and some emotional and funny speeches. I hope the best man managed to find someone special (you'll have to watch the video to understand this).

To round off an incredible day, the dance floor was lively and filled with fun, laughter and some impressive dance moves.
