Being wedding videographers at the Grand Lodge at Oaklands was the highlight of our summer. When we were first booked, we knew it would be a great opportunity to showcase how breathtaking Oaklands was, and we were right. It is a truly stunning location with 200 acres of woodland and a beautiful lake surrounding the venue. You feel like you are on holiday with the most secluded space for a perfect getaway from your daily life. How lucky were we to be able to create the best wedding video for two lovely people, Tory and Josh? What's even better was the weather being in our favour with 25 degrees Celsius and sunny. For those of you living in the UK, specifically up north, you know how special these days are!

Natural and Relaxed Wedding Videographer at Oaklands

Oaklands is easy to get to from where we live, with mostly driving on the motorway M62. There are plenty of parking spaces so you don't have to stress about another thing after all that wedding planning. If you just want to enjoy your big day without being told what to do, then we are the best wedding videographers for you. Quietly filming in the background, we capture the bride and groom having a laugh with their family and friends by the picturesque lake next to the Grand Lodge.

Relaxing Weddings at the Grand Lodge By the Lake

How cool is it that the owners of Oaklands, Mike and Linda, got married here in 2011? The guests surely had a fabulous time because they ended up telling Mike and Linda to convert the place into a wedding venue. We don't blame them because we would have done the same after filming a wedding there. In 2020, they turned the Tipis into the Grand Lodge so that more people could enjoy the wedding in a more comfortable environment, especially in the winter. The upgrade attracted more couples to get married at Oaklands throughout the year. The lush green space makes for a natural backdrop. The vibrant leaves against Tory's elegant white dress helped show off her beauty and made for a striking shot. The pavilion is the ideal location for couples who love the outdoor ceremony. As the bride and groom gave their vows, the birds chirped joyfully, as if they couldn't be happier for the loving couple. The guitarist was playing peaceful tunes in the background, blending in casually with the lovely sounds of Mother Nature. Guests were lucky enough to witness all the magical moments happening while appreciating the views over the lake. 

The food at Oaklands was delicious. One of our favourite parts about filming a wedding was enjoying the great food we were offered, and Oaklands did not disappoint at all. Trust me on this one. I will never say no to free food (any guess who wrote this? Definitely not Jessie). Another bonus point about Oaklands is the outdoor space to chill on a warm summer day. The lake is the perfect spot for the bride and groom to have a stroll after their wedding breakfast. Lots of guests went outside to relax by having a pint or a glass of wine while the sun slowly set. The outdoor space just outside of the Grand Lodge had the most beautiful golden hour lighting. We made sure to capture those sunkissed rosy cheeks. 

After a full day of mingling and celebrating, the bride/groom and guests can have a restful sleep in Oaklands' 14 luxury lodges. You won't have to worry about safety or noise because it is private and exclusive for the wedding party. Imagine how nice it would be to just doze off after a night of dancing in suits and heels without having to drive home! They even have a lodge especially for the bride and groom to get ready in, called the River Lodge. It is spacious with great lighting. What more could you ask for?

Videography at Oaklands Surrounded by the Woodland

Oaklands provides a unique setting for couples who love being immersed in nature. It's not every day you get to film a tranquil woodland wedding in stunning Yorkshire with perfect weather. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and welcoming. The coordinator organised the wedding so smoothly and efficiently that we were able to capture everything we needed in a reasonable time. If having your wedding all in one location appeals to you, Oaklands would be the one! The outdoor ceremony was only a two-minute walk from the reception. The last thing you want is to walk far in a heavy dress and high heels. Or maybe we just don't fancy the idea of carrying our heavy-duty equipment on a long walk. (Two tripods, one monopod, three to four cameras and a drone type of heavy-duty) The good news is there are very few stairs to the Grand Lodge and there is also a ramp accessible for those with restricted movement. They also have the Lakeside Lodge for couples who want to get married indoors, which makes Oaklands an all-around great venue for weddings!

A beautiful feature of Oaklands that we particularly loved was the tall glass of the venue. It gave away an elegant and modern feel to the wedding and was great as a backdrop. When you walk towards the end of the bridge and look back at the Grand Lodge, you just know it is the shot. Take a few moments to unwind there. You will easily forget all the hustle and bustle life gives. If there is one place that reminds you to live in the moment, it is Oaklands.
